The New York State Empire Zone Program. The Yonkers Empire Zone consists of designated areas within the city that offer special incentives to encourage economic development, business investment and job creation.

The primary benefit to the new Yonkers Empowerment Zone is the opportunity to share in a $17 billion tax incentive package for businesses to locate and expand within inner cities and distressed rural areas. These incentives include wage credits, tax deductions, bond financing and capital gains.
The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency (YIDA) Helping Businesses Grow Since 1982. YIDA assists industrial, commercial and not-for-profit organizations in obtaining long-term,low-cost financing, principally through the issuance of tax-exempt industrial development bonds (IDBs).
